I’m a scientist(Bioengineer) by training, although I am realizing that I may not have the passion required for research in the academic environment(It’s only taken me 8 years after getting the PhD to trust in this realization). I have amazing kids and an even more amazing wife whom I’ve been with since 1998. Hobby wise, I enjoy photography, and will try to use my own images as much as possible on the blog. I also like trying to repair 70’s-era Pioneer Solid State receivers. My one consistent source of joy is surfing.  I still chicken-out on head-high and above waves, but I love it. This leads to issues with me wanting to go surfing rather than be with the family at times, but I try maintain some sort of balance.
